I Bet My Husband I Could Sell My Saturn Before He Could

My husband and I are quite competitive people, even with each other. Both of us have been known to gamble and never to turn our back on a good wager. We have decided that if we bet each other, then technically no one really loses. It had come time to sell my Saturn, my college transportation that had been sitting lifeless in the garage for months since we bought our new SUV. Although I was ready to take the bet, it was part of my college life, and I'm a little reluctant to sell my Saturn.

In hindsight I'm sure my husband came up with the bet to sell my Saturn just so he could get the garage space, especially knowing my reluctance to back down on a good wager. It worked and I'm glad. It's time to move on to another chapter of my life, and now I'm doing that, driving in what I'll have to look as my grown-up car. The bet was to come up with the best quote on the car in the shortest amount of time.

His Way to Sell

He thought he was going to be sneaky and sell it fast at a dealership, silly man. He took it the first day to the Saturn dealer and sat down with them, determined to get a good offer if he had to stay there all day long to do it.  He sure drove the staff there crazy, and his immobility may have forced a few more dollars out of them, but they are only authorized to go so high on their used buys, especially when there is no trade-in.

The Smart Way to Sell

I had a friend who had recently sold a car using a service called Cash4UsedCars.net. She said they made a quick appointment with her and came to see the car a day after she filled out their online form. She had also been so excited about the fact that they had put cash in her hand the same day they looked at the car.

I was convinced that Cash4UsedCars.net would help me win this bet with my husband and sell my Saturn. In other words, I could kill two birds with one stone.

I was right! It took 30 minutes for the appraisal, and the gentleman was authorized to hand me cash right on the spot. My husband was blown away by the offer Cash4UsedCars.net made and gladly awarded me the $100 prize from our bet. As a consolation prize I bought his new SUV a bike rack out of my Saturn money.
